on, over, above 都是在…上面。

under, below, beneath 都是在…下面。

on 

強(qiáng)調(diào)某物在另一物上方，且兩者有接觸
An apple is on my head.
我的頭上有一顆蘋果。

Over

 

解釋一：強(qiáng)調(diào)某物在另一物的垂直正上方，且兩者沒(méi)有接觸
 1.An apple hangs over me.
  有一顆蘋果懸掛在我的正上方。

 2.There’s a bridge over the river.
  河上有座橋。

解釋二：某物在上方移動(dòng)而越過(guò)另一物
A plane flew over the house.
一架飛機(jī)從房子上方飛過(guò)。

 

解釋三：某物在上方覆蓋、遮蔽、壟罩住另一物
 1.My dad built a roof over the courtyard.
  我爸爸為庭院建了一個(gè)頂棚。
 2.The sun shone over the valley.
  陽(yáng)光照耀整座山谷。

 

above

 

解釋一：指某物高于另一物，但不一定位于垂直正上方，且兩者沒(méi)有接觸
 1.The moon is now above the trees.
  月亮高掛在樹的上方。
 2.Raise your hands above your head.
  把你的手舉到頭上。
 3.The sun rose above the horizon.
  太陽(yáng)升起，并高過(guò)地平線。

 

解釋二：指某種抽象的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)、程度、水平高于、在…之上
 1.Men and women of eighteen and above are eligible to vote.
  18 歲 (含) 以上的男女都擁有投票權(quán)。
 2.In the company, Angela ranks above Ron.
  在這家公司，Angela 的位階高于 Ron。
 3.The temperature will stay above zero during the daytime.
  白天時(shí)，溫度會(huì)高于零度。

解釋一：強(qiáng)調(diào) A 在 B 的垂直正下方，B 是立體的，例如床、沙發(fā)、樹、桌子
 1.Tim hid under the bed.
  Tim 躲在床下。
 2.We were playing chess under the tree.
  我們?cè)跇湎孪缕濉?/span>

 

解釋二：某物在另一物下方有動(dòng)作、移動(dòng)。

 1.We drove under the bridge.
  我們開車經(jīng)過(guò)橋下。
 2.That naughty boy crawled under the fence.

解釋四：年齡、金額等數(shù)字低于、在…之下
 1.Applicants for the jobs must be forty and under.
  這份工作的應(yīng)征者必須在 40 歲 (含) 以下。
 2.Angela is under 44 kg.
  Angela 的體重低于 44 公斤。

 

解釋五：分屬在…類別之下
 1.What do bats come under?
   蝙蝠歸屬在哪一類？
 2.Books on Cecil Beaton will probably be under Art or Photography rather than Drama.
  關(guān)于 Cecil Beaton 的書很可能歸在藝術(shù)或攝影類，而不是戲劇類。

below

 

解釋一：指 A 物低于 B 物，但不一定位于垂直正下方，且兩者沒(méi)有接觸。
 1.There is a river below the village.
  村莊下有一條小河。
 2.The movie theater is below the supermarket.
  電影院在超市樓下。

 

解釋二：指低于某種抽象的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)、程度、水平、在…之下
 1.The total cost of the clothes Adele bought yesterday was below/under two thousand dollars.
  Adele 昨天買的所有衣服總計(jì)低于 2,000 元。
 2.Nana has three people working below her.
  Nana 有三個(gè)下屬。
 3.The temperature has dropped below freezing point tonight.
  今晚的溫度低于零度。

Beneath

解釋一：強(qiáng)調(diào)某物在另一物的垂直正下方時(shí)，和 under 通用。不過(guò) beneath 比較正式和文雅，多出現(xiàn)在文學(xué)作品中。
 After weeks at sea, it was wonderful to feel firm ground beneath our feet once again.
 在海上待了好幾個(gè)星期后，雙腳再次踏上堅(jiān)實(shí)土地的感覺(jué)真好。

 

解釋二：低于、劣于…

 1.Jeremy considered that job beneath him.
  Jeremy 認(rèn)為做這份工作有失他的身份。
 2.Tina is so arrogant that she thinks everyone is beneath her.

   Tina 自大又傲慢，覺(jué)得所有人都比她低下。
